Rockstar Makita Suzuki is coming off a successful week at Mid-Ohio and is prepped and ready to race at Laguna Seca. Tommy Hayden won his third race of the season on Sunday at Mid-Ohio and is hoping to carry that momentum to the AMA Superbike race on Sunday afternoon. Hayden is now only four points out of the lead in the series and looks to keep competitive for the remaining races.
Josh Waters, the 2009 Australian Superbike champion, was hoping to make his U.S. racing debut on Sunday, filling in for the injured Blake Young. Waters was also injured two weeks ago at a test at Willow Springs and isn’t ready to race yet. “Physically I feel good, but I’m not quite mentally there yet after what happened two weeks ago,” Waters said. “I was looking forward to racing at Laguna Seca and be with the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team, but unfortunately it’s just not in the cards for me.”
Blake Young is attending the event and will be signing autographs along with Hayden at the Rockstar Makita Suzuki rig on Saturday at 1 o’clock. Young is healing well and is excited to get back to the business of racing soon.
The AMA Superbike race takes place on Sunday afternoon at 3:45 pm after the Moto GP race earlier in the afternoon. Be on the lookout for Tommy Hayden on his GSX-R1000 at the front of the pack.
